I do have to say this hospital is the most unorganized hospital I have ever been to. My Sister was told to come in the night before for her surgery that was scheduled for the following day. However, she received a call from the hospital telling her not to come in that night, just come in the morning at 9:30 am day of. The morning of, she received 3 calls... 3.. asking where she was and why she was not at the hospital. Once we got to the hospital we checked in with admitting and were told to go to the 6th floor. Needless to say, as we got off the elevator we instantly knew we were not where we should have been. We asked a group of people and finally was taken to the floor we should have been on. Once we were on our floor she was told to go to the next desk to be admitted.....we already did that process downstairs and were told we did not even though my sister had all the proof of doing so, and the name of the lady who registered her. The lady then cut the medical band off her wrist and did the whole registration all over again. I really don't think anyone knows how to utilize a computer to put notes in when they spoke to the patient. I will say this will be the last hospital I would choose for anything. Terrible experience from walking through the door.

Dr was awesome. Almost positive the night shift nurses was high. She didn’t wear gloves while doing an IV and then the doctor offered a CT scan to ensure my daughter was okay they complained that I agreed to it and started talking loudly about me. Obviously their nurses need to go back to high school.

I’m so grateful to this hospital that saved my son’s life. They also gave him the best care during his stay. God bless every nurse, aid and doctor as well as their music therapist that watched over my son and the kindness and compassion that they showed. The day my son was discharged I ended up in the emergency room that night and also was treated with great care. Thank you Elyria University Hospitals.

I’m posting this as awareness, I was admitted because I was in terrible pain and was with my grandmother who’s in her 70’s. I already felt like my nurse wasn’t the friendliest but I figured maybe she’s been working for hours and ready to go home because she’s tired! Or maybe she’s just the type of person that comes off more serious. The nurse noticed that there was a bed bug on my bed. I freaked out because I suffer from OCD and it’s hard enough for me to go to hospitals as is. But my nurse accused me and my grandma of having them. And I started crying and I told her we don’t, I’ve never had bed bugs in my entire life. And I understand that some people can have them but I’ve never had them just like some people have to deal with lice! In my case I have because I’m a hairstylist! And yes I know it’s a hospital and hospitals have sick people! The point of the matter is how the nurse completely made a huge scene, telling every nurse she could and humiliated me. I felt so belittled and felt like I was a little kid again the way I was being treated! After the nurse made a whole scene, They made another nurse take me to shower, I walked past and the whole floor of nurses were staring at me and I was just so humiliated! When I was in the shower room I expressed to the nurse how I was feeling. She was apologizing, I could tell she felt bad and even said that “it’s happened a couple times before because ppl come in that are homeless or just have them and bring them in” and I told her I understand that but the treatment of the nurse, she acted like I disgusted her or like she didn’t want to deal with me! I have friends and family that are doctors/nurses, it’s apart of the job. She agreed I shouldn’t have been treated this way! I couldn’t stop crying in the shower, I felt so disgusting and I was in terrible pain which was the whole reason I came to the Hospital in the first place. I thought about just walking out because I couldn’t believe the treatment I was getting! After showering they put me in an isolated room by myself without my grandma because the mean nurse forced her to leave but she was there as my support system and because I couldn’t drive myself to the hospital. I was there for hours. I felt like everyone was avoiding me. Until They gave me another nurse which felt like he was sent from God. He was trying to make sure I was okay and I told him I wasn’t and I just couldn’t stop crying. He asked me what happened and genuinely cared about my well being! I told him everything that happened and how I was in so much pain. He told me how sorry he was and that his coworker was so terribly wrong for acting that way towards me. I get that hospitals have policies and stuff on how to go about issues like this but I felt like I wasn’t even being treated like a human being before him and the nurse that helped me shower. I wasn’t the one who brought them to the hospital. The whole point of me expressing what happened is that we need to do better! I appreciate Doctors & nurses so much but some of these “medical professionals” have no heart or respect for others!

We were in the outpatient surgery area today for an angiogram. We had a wonderful experience! From Denise at the registration desk, to John, the volunteer, and especially to our Nurse,Janet, everyone was so kind and helpful. The hospital was very clean. I appreciated the gift shop and quaint cafeteria that had great soup and chicken wings! The best part was the free parking and a convenient walkway on a rainy day.
