The care and nurses was good they were sweet and compassionate.. I'd rate them a 5. HOWEVER, the treatment of my mom was disgusting and unacceptable. I came into the ICU around 1Am with a scary and life threatening issue going on. My mom was told she couldn't stay with me by a nurse. .Hospital policy.... Even though 2 months prior I was at this same hospital for surgery and my mother and sister got to stay the night in my room no problem!! So the nurse then said we do have a ICU waiting room you can go to ...So my mom went to see it to see if it was somewhere she thought she could sleep in a chair ..No one was in that waiting room. So she came back to say goodnight to me went to the waiting room . She felll asleep in a chair it was like 230 am by now... Around 330 the nurse told me there was a misunderstanding my mom cant stay in the waiting room either ..I said WHAT !!! Its 330 in the morning, its freezing outside it was like 10 degrees out, we live 45 min away from the hospital. She's 73 and cant drive well at night ..They didn't care had NO compassion!! Wanted her out of their bldg and to make it worse didn't even want her to wait in her car in the parking lot for my other sister to come 45. Minutes to pick her up with her husband. I was so irate .I said NO NO NO she is staying in her car out there!!! There is no way shes driving home its only 45 more min you all have to wait.. Shes out side of yoir bldg. in the freezing car so leave her alone !!! So they told the security guard to let her be in the car till my other sister arrived..(oh so gracious of them NOT )This was inhumane treatment especially for a patient in the ICU or hospital at all. I used to recommend this hospital but Will NOT any longer ... They also told me when I transfer to the next floor any one can stay the night with you with no problem!! Well thats a lie too...We get out of ICU the following evening and my first question was can my mom sleep here tonight .NOPE hospital policy .. Again unacceptable!!!!.Do people who make these rules not have hearts ? Do they not realize surgery or things you have to do at the hospital is scary and sometimes life threatening.. You dont want to be alone with strangers at a time like this ...You need your family and comfort . In our opinion they should also remove the part of their name that says Christi becasue how we were treated was NOT Christ like!!!
I recently spent a few days in this hospital for kidney removal. The staff and hospital was top notch. Great food, great care, very clean, very professional. We are fortunate to have a facility this good in Manhattan Ks. Don't listen to a very few naysayers. This place is the best. Shout out to Dr.Russo and staff. EXCELLENT.
Definitely 5 stars for the ER care I received at the end of August, and many heartfelt thanks to the doctor, nurse, and staff who worked with me. I had GI issues that were rapidly going downhill Saturday morning and was admitted very quickly when I arrived. The doctor and nurses diagnosed my condition, put me on IV, and got me into the CT scanner. The diagnosis and treatment stabilized me and made me feel much less anxious, while the IV meds began to work their magic and bring down my white cell count. Since there was no GI on staff over the holiday, they consulted with Stormont Vail in Topeka and arranged for continued treatment there. After a couple days I was recovering at home and am so thankful to have been treated so well at both hospitals. So far, so good, three months later with no lingering issues. The on-line reports from doctors and the radiologist were also excellent, and helped me understand what happened even better !
I am a RN/DNP student. I went there in hypertensive crisis and they let me sat there close to an hour before they called me back, not even a vital sign or blood pressure check. I told the lady I was very dizzy. Once called back I explained everything and vitals were taken and I was taken back. The nurse who checked me in came to draw my blood, and I looked down I saw blood on her clothing. I asked her is that a patient's blood she was like yes, red flag! being a nurse myself I know the dangers I told her I did not want to draw my blood she got anger and was rude and nasty right in front of the NP on duty, and she said nothing and let her get away with it. So this nurse who suppose to help has made me upset and my blood pressure rise even higher. The nurse supervisor came in and was into her feelings about her nurse and tried to get blood and hit my median nerve in my arm and the pain was awful, she literally has caused spasms in my arm every since. I'm actually seeing a surgeon about this now. The sad part is I identified my status and was treated so horrible. I became a nurse to show love, compassion, empathy and to keep my patient safe to the best of my ability and not put them in harms way and to get that type of treatment from other nurses and medical staff is very worrisome and disheartening.
Had my baby here on October 10, my nurse Allye was amazing, she was with me while i was contracting and in horrible pain and barely able to talk & after i got the epidural she was super supportive and good with explaining everything and she and my baby’s father held my legs up while i pushed. honestly she made it such a beautiful and positive experience and was so excited to see me and my baby the next day i really appreciate her. 5 stars for Allye, i hope she gets a prize for getting a good review
