Receptionist was RUDE. Daughter was taken in by ambulance. Receptionist that was on front desk was rude- wanted my other daughter who is 14 to wait in the waiting room alone. There was not another adult to be with her. Minor issue on adult daughter taken in. When I asked a second time, security officer also behaved very rudely. I respect the place I am, the positions people have There was no compassion shown at all. There is also a male older nurse who is out of place in how he speaks to women.

Let me start by saying that I reached out to them directly to express my concerns. I got an email back saying that someone one would reach out to me but they have yet to do so and that was 5 days ago. I had a horrible experience at their ER. I arrived crying and in pain with what I was pretty sure was a dislocated shoulder as I have dislocated both shoulders multiple times and have had 2 reconstructions on my right shoulder. There was zero empathy from any member of their staff except the two people in radiology. From the looks I got and the lack of caring it made me feel like they all thought I was in there to get drugs and was making up my injury. They made me wait in an empty waiting room for about 30 minutes while I was writhing in pain. I told each person I met my history of dislocations. After xray, the Dr. Kaump came in to tell me that they didn't see any dislocation. He did about a 10 second inspection of my arm and told me that I had rotator cuff tendonitis and offered me Oxy and an anti inflammatory. I refused the Oxy and told him I can't take the anti inflammatory due to another condition. He kept pushing me to take it even though I insisted I couldn't and wouldn't. He then told me there was nothing more he could do and left. They gave me a sling, an RX for a muscle relaxer and sent me on my way. I went directly to see my physical therapist who did a proper exam, determined that the arm was slightly subluxed and put it back into place. After telling that many people on the staff about how many dislocations I had the Dr should have done a proper exam and should have at least tried to offer an orthopedic referral if it was above his experience. I will never return.

From the moment Dr.Parks entered my room, he was disrespectful, condescending, and weirdly aggressive, like he was mad I was there. Dr. Parks asked me questions, doing whatever in the room, and it was like I was an animal he did not want to acknowledge or make eye contact with. This guy did not care what I had to say at all. I explained the symptoms I was having and the severity of the pain I was in, for which all I wanted to know was WHY the pain was happening. I never had mouth/jaw pain before, but it hurt so bad I thought for sure something had to be broken or infected. He barely looked at the inside of my mouth and decided it was tooth pain for which I should have contacted a dentist about. This is despite me telling him about the immune disease I have that has literally caused wasting of my face and jaw, for which I had several reconstructive surgeries. I thought it could have possibly been contributing to the pain. Did he care about any of what I told him? Nope! It wasn’t acknowledged at all! I told him I did try contacting my dentist to get an emergency appointment before coming there, to which he flat-out said I was lying. I pulled up my recent calls in my phone and told him when I called the number (they were closed cause it was the weekend), they had no emergency services as an option. To which he replied, I was also lying about! I offered to call them right then and there so he could hear for himself, and he decided we were through and told me to follow up with a dentist while walking out of the room. He must have spoken to the nurse (Mychael Lotocky) who came into the room after because he treated me in the same EXACT manner, this condescending weird hostility. Dr. Parks should not be a doctor if he can’t treat his patients with basic respect or compassion. I was scared and in severe pain, and he treated me like my problem was so insignificant. The only positive I have to say here is that the female nurse who came into the room after I asked for help was extremely nice to me and even gave me a number for a dentist who has emergency services that she googled for me. Also, the doctor I saw previously Dr. Michael Zanker was extremely kind and empathetic. He listened to everything I said and seemed like he genuinely cared. I wish I had him as a doctor the second time around. However, because of this negative experience, in the future I’ll be driving to the Yale ER in Guilford because I don’t want to chance being seen by Dr. Parks again.

I was at the Westbrook ER on July 15 and was very impressed. Although they initially said it might be a bit of a wait they took me in within 15 minutes. I was made comfortable, had an X-ray, was seen by Joseph Castro, PA, given a walker and a walking boot all within an hour and a half! Joseph Castro was professional, explained everything to me and put me at ease. All of the staff were very caring. A very unpleasant experience was made so much better by the care I received.

This review is specifically for the radiology department. First, the facility is so convenient to where I live. It’s a beautiful facility with a very comfortable waiting area that has fantastic feng shui. And, the chairs are very nice, not like a lot of places like this. Check in is easy with a big, clear, colorful screen with easy to read instructions. I was a walk in. I was called almost immediately. The two women radiological technicians could not have been nicer. They were very professional and efficient. Real pros. I appreciate that.
