Terrible experience overall doctors yelling at me for taking vitamins before I went there nurses having a vendetta because I asked for a hose to be changed that repeatedly shut down the iv and blood was going back up the line. Nurse saying you better not be drinking a protein shake which was milk. Worst experience there in my life. I have been there 3 times in past year no problems till this time. I might go elsewhere next time
Aside being there for 21 hours I had a amazing nurse on (2nd floor observation) her name was dawn she was honest and great bedside manner she explained everything when every other nurse/doc did not for the first 12 hours I was pretty clueless but she’s god sent! Made sure I also had all my prescriptions for after surgery which saved me a stop the next day after discharged so tha was amazing as well! And then when it came time for surgery my team was AMAZING!!! Doctor Pap did amazing work And the pre-op team also amazing!!! Amanda was so sweet, then Paul, Steve & I can’t remember the lady’s name it started with a D but she was so great! They played Ozzy for me when I went under it was a good time!!! Grateful for all of these people
This is a long one so bare with me… I don’t normally post things like this, but my recent experience at Henry Ford Wyandotte was so painful and disheartening that I feel it’s important to share not out of anger, but so others understand the level of care they may receive. Last Thursday, I was transferred from Dearborn to Wyandotte for kidney stone surgery after being in the ER since 4am. I was told I could eat until 10am, since my surgery was planned for 4pm. When the cafeteria saw my chart listed as NPO, they told me I simply needed my nurse to update it. I pressed the call button repeatedly… my nurse didn’t come in until 9:50am, only to tell me it was now too late to eat. I felt ignored, dismissed, and like my basic needs didn’t matter. My surgery time changed again and again from 4pm, then 5pm, then 6pm, then 7pm, and finally 8pm. No communication. No reassurance. Just waiting in pain, confused and hungry. After surgery, the doctor told me my discharge papers would already be prepared. Instead, I sat for an hour, my dad waiting outside, while I was told the papers “weren’t ready.” Seconds later, they suddenly appeared. It was frustrating and exhausting. I was also told my medications would be sent to a 24/7 pharmacy. But when I left the hospital, the script showed it wouldn’t be ready until the 6th. I spent the entire night in agony without pain relief. At 5am, crying from pain, I called Wyandotte for help to see if this was normal because i wasnt able to pick up my medication yet and was told, “I don’t know… call the pharmacy. Or go back to the ER.” That was the level of guidance I received while suffering. When I drove to CVS myself, barely able to stand, they informed me the meds were never sent there. They had been sent to Wyandotte’s own pharmacy, which had closed at 7pm, long before my 8pm surgery ended. They couldn’t transfer it. So I drove back to Wyandotte and lay curled up in front of the pharmacy until it opened. The pharmacist was the only person who showed compassion. Today, after being given only two days of pain medication despite having a stent placed and still needing another procedure, I called to request just a couple more days so I could return to work. The response: “Sorry, no. You’ll have to go to the ER.” I cannot describe how defeated I felt hearing that. I felt unheard, unsupported, and minimized throughout this entire experience. If it weren’t for the amazing doctor I work for stepping in and helping me when I truly felt hopeless, I don’t know how I would have gotten through this. I understand hospitals are busy and staff are overwhelmed, but compassion, communication, and basic follow through are not optional in healthcare. My pain and safety should not have been treated as an afterthought. For anyone seeking care, I strongly recommend choosing another hospital. No one deserves to feel the way I did.
Absolutely one of the best experiences I have had at a hospital. Went in to the ER, for abdomen pain. Very nice people. I want to specially say thank you to Justin and Alicia.so helpful. Ended up having surgery. Want to thank all the nurses and staff on the 7th floor. Very nice and helpful. The surgeon and his team were also amazing. Again the best experience I've had at a hospital. And I'm 61 years old, so I've been to a few.
Little bit of a wait to get back in the E.R. But once I got back there, the nurses and doctors were phenomenal really appreciated. Candace and Elba. They were outstanding once I got up to the seventh floor. The nurses were really great as well. Laura and Kaylee were outstanding. Thank you very much. also, the surgical team was great, pretty funny and very informative on how the procedure is gonna go. Thank you for the Great care!!
