I was. At Auburn sleep med for a sleep study. After a little bit of confusion with insurance, I finally did the sleep study on November 1st 2025. I can’t say enough how wonderful John A was through the night. When morning came Tracy picked up where John left off. This is a shining example of service with a smile. Thank you Sleep Med
I have had an incredibly difficult time at this office lately and have decided to switch providers. My PCP also noted difficulties with this office and has stopped referring patients here. They are difficult to get a hold of and their answering machine does not work. The office is cold and uninviting and during my first appointment the doctor's bedside manner was not ideal. My insurance also gets charged yearly for an office visit when they haven't scheduled me for an office visit in years. Now I am trying to get a repeat home sleep study done to see if I even still have sleep apnea after a significant weight loss (which the doctor told me at my first visit I needed to lose wight) and now that I finally have, they are being extremely difficult. They also pressured me into having the sleep study done in person even when I explained that I am a mother of 2 small kids and not only do my kids need me at home during the night, but also I did not feel comfortable sleeping in that office. I am switching practices to a more ethical provider.
I could not have been treated more poorly. The office staff were incredibly friendly an accommodating, however the Dr. himself was a whole other story. The moment I entered the exam room the Dr. was already talking down to me. I told him that I had previous issues with insomnia in the past. I relayed that my PCP wanted us to concentrate on getting me to fall asleep. Within 3 minutes the man was trying to sell me on getting a sleep apnea surgery, despite telling him that I currently did not want to talk about the sleep apnea as per my PCP. He then asked if all I wanted was medication. I told him I don't even like taking medication, and mentioned that maybe we weren't the best fit. I asked if there were any other Sleep Specialists he could recommend. He told me to get out. When I hesitated (mostly out of shock) he told me I was trespassing and he would call the police. Not sure if he was having a bad day, but that was completely unacceptable from beginning to end.
So far I've only been here once before, but based on that experience, I will say that I have very positive feedback for Auburn SleepMed, which is why I chose to leave a review. I had an appointment scheduled for 11:30am & after finding this location on GPS (I live almost an hour away & am not familiar with Auburn) I went to check in & was greeted by a friendly, courteous & welcoming receptionist. Once she had me give her my insurance card & license, she handed me some pages to sign, while I sat down to wait for the doctor. I noticed immediately that the practice was clean & well cared for. The doctor (Dr. Assaf) called me just a few moments later, so my wait time was very brief & he was right on time. The doctor I saw was very professional, thorough & knowledgeable. We talked about the reason for my appointment, as well as future plans & past sleep study results. I was scheduled for an in person sleep study (at a later date) before leaving the facility & the doc was very reassuring that this was a simple, painless procedure that is very common for this practice. I was asked by the doctor whether I had any questions before my departure. I like that he went over everything in a way that was easy to understand & did not at all rush through my visit. I also used the restroom before leaving this building & saw that it was very clean & well maintained. I also happened to notice a few rooms where patients stay during sleep studies (these were vacant at this time) & they looked very comfortable, nothing like an exam room you'd find in a medical practice or anything. I'm looking forward to my sleep study here next month & am impressed with the professionals that work here as well. I would definitely recommend for patients like me, who suffer with sleep disorders such as sleep apnea! You will be treated kindly & feel glad that you chose this practice.
