What started out as a terrible experience that resulted in me calling and involving the CEO of Providence Milwaukie Hospital turned into a five star experience at the end. I know, you're asking yourselves, "Wait, you had to involve the CEO and you're giving them five stars???" I feel that we're all human and it's about how things are made right more than what went wrong. Due to COVID-19, I was referred to Provident Sleep Disorders Center, as they were better equipped to safely perform the studies I needed to have done. I checked in for both studies the night before through the Providence text-to-confirm thing. The next morning, around 10, was where the clown car misery began. I was told the second study was canceled - this is less than 24 hours after 1) I had checked in, and 2) I was scheduled to have the test performed. Cue phone call flurry panic where I reached out to referring office, insurance company, director of sleep center, CEO. I wish I were kidding, but, as I told the wonderful Providence receptionist, I had to "go full Karen" to get things fixed. In part, a lot of the problem was due to COVID-19 and how things were put in, how I had gotten put on the books, and a few other things that because of my experience, now have better processes and procedures to prevent what happened with my visit from happening to other folks in the future. I had several conversations with Providence Sleep Disorders Center - and I think even though I "went full Karen," we all ended up finding a solution. Morever, Providence really went above and beyond and made it right by providing a fair solution and compensation for the less than pleasant experience I had prior to the studies. The studies themselves went great. The staff was very kind and professional. Again, due to COVID-19, masks are required any time you are not sleeping, so do pick a mask you can wear without huring your ears for several hours, and be mindful where you will have ties versus where the wires will be placed. Also, if you have long hair and want to braid it before you go to sleep (if you're used to doing that), do so before they put all the wires on your scalp. Bad start, great finish. Thank you for making things right.
