When you live with a chronic illness, it takes a toll on you, physically, mentally and emotionally. After a while, doctors know you. One in particular, Dr. Seangio, knows that I try to avoid hospitalizations. That anxiety, (which has worsened since I lost a sibling, in the middle of the night during a hospital stay in another state) can be overwhelming. They say female doctors bring a level of empathy to the table. It is clear that this doctor is a nurturer. She listens!!! That’s half the battle, when treating patients. She addresses problems that you don’t even think to ask. You feel heard when she’s in the room. During this time when civilians are not being paid to use their incredible life-saving skills, I hope a simple gesture of gratitude will go a long way. Thank you!!! - Patient 20601.

To the Dedicated Staff of A.T. Augusta Military Medical Center – Department 7N I want to express my deepest gratitude for your exceptional care and unwavering professionalism during this challenging time. Despite the hardships caused by the government shutdown and the uncertainty surrounding pay, each of you has continued to serve with compassion, integrity, and strength. A special thank-you to Nurse Janelle Coles and Nurse Courtney Bush-Jones for your kindness, patience, and commitment to providing outstanding service. Your dedication reminds us all of what it truly means to serve others selflessly. Your work does not go unnoticed — you are deeply appreciated, respected, and valued beyond words. This er is one of the worst experiences I have ever had in an ER. I went in the beginning of June with a shoulder injury/pain resulting in diminished range of motion. They did an ultrasound and x-ray didn't discuss anything other than he thinks it may be an infection. Based solely on the fact that I've had "strawberry skin" my whole life and thusly it must be an infection ... Went back ago a few days ago as I've been kicked around to more docs than I can count and everybody landing on you need to see ortho .. well mri appointments are months out at this point and ortho won't see me without mri so I've been in limbo for months in pain losing significant range of motion and increasing pain. Walked in triage was pretty quick only sat in the waiting room for 15 mins wad walked back into a room and there I sat door closed no response to call light for 3 and half hours when I complained I was told "oh well shift change" ... at 4 o'clock in the afternoon? Told them I wanted to sign out the nurse leaves and magically 5 mins later a med student comes in doesn't even do a basic exam asks a few questions and leaves... 30 mins later the er dr comes in and tell me there is nothing they can do for me and I need to wait and follow up with ortho... no exam nothing to help with the pain nothing sends me on my way ... Then I look at the clinical notes in my portal where all these exams and stuff were apparently completely normal even though never once did anyone actually do the exams or checks signed off on the notes .... Do not come here it's a terrible facility with unprofessional staff and more likely to bandaid and curb you then actually treat you

I went in with critically low potassium, a kidney infection and TWO kidney stones. I felt like I had been run over by a train. If you’ve ever had kidney issues you know how miserable it is. You’d think that would be the worst of it and I’d feel better in the hospital, wrong. The emergency room stuck me three times. I said I have notoriously bad veins and if you think you won’t be able to get them please grab someone else. When he couldn’t get them after poking me a bunch he said “oh usually people are lying about this.” Then once moved to triage the experience didn’t get better. Despite every single nurse and doctor besides one telling me potassium has to be diluted because it burns badly the nurse administered it directly into my veins. I was already in pain, crying and when I asked her to stop it she said and I told her how badly it hurt she replied with “well yeah it burns” completely unconcerned. I asked if there was any other way it could be done and she said “yeah we can dilute it.” Okay then why didn’t they. I’ve given birth three times without pain meds and I’d rather do that again than deal with the pain of undiluted potassium. Then I was moved to an overnight room. I couldn’t sleep because of the pain and when my night nurse came in and asked how I was I told him I was in pain in my back and couldn’t get comfortable, he said well I can grab you a Tylenol. That’s pretty much it. So I didn’t sleep, I had ONE dose of an antibiotic during my two day stay. So my kidney infection was still in full force. THREE singular Motrin. (That I had to ask for every single time.) unmanaged pain. Unconcerned nurses, I’ve never had an experience like this in my many years of kidney issues. They don’t care if you’re comfortable, they don’t care how many times they have to stick you, I ended up with over five IV places in less than two days time. Not including the rest of the sticks for blood draws and trial runs. The room was nice and that’s pretty much all this hospital has going for it. They don’t care if you’re suffering. They don’t manage your pain and the disregard for suffering when someone is already suffering is honestly just plain sad to me. If I could add photos I’d show the five different diagnoses I had (which by the way two of them weren’t even told to me. I only found out in my discharge paperwork.) if you’re already suffering and struggling choose another hospital. Trust me.

Overall my first experiences at this hospital have been surprisingly good. I was able to secure and attend my first appointment at this hospital with my primary care team quickly despite obstacles on the phone to get established at this hospital at my new address. I parked at the ER area and took the wrong route to the hospital on my first day, but I was able to navigate the hospital to get to the correct location. I like how I was able to get almost everything done immediately: my appointment, pharmacy refill, medical records release forms, and address the doctors I needed for different ailments in one day. It took me six hours to get all this done at this hospital, since I arrived at my first appointment an hour early. Despite the hours spent here, it was quiet and peaceful - no lines or anxiety. This was the most ideal doctor and hospital visit I ever had. Peaceful, spacious and inviting lobby area, easy to locate appointment, gift shop, & pharmacy location, and a Starbucks on the third floor to enjoy iced coffee. It was easy finding the parking lot of the front of the hospital where the hospital's pharmacy is located. Going to the hospital and my first doctor appointments at a new address are always stressful to me due to numerous past experiences, so I was elated to finally have a good firsthand experience.
