DO NOT GO HERE FOR LABOR AND DELIVERY. When I first arrived things went great. I then got the epidural and my Bluetooth monitor stopped working it got WET at this point I was on my hands and knees and couldn’t feel my legs the nurse kept shoving her fingers under my belly to fix it…. While I was telling her it’s WET it’s not going to work. She kept telling me to get up i physically couldn’t move. Eventually I worked up enough adrenaline and ripped it off. She then got out the one with wires that again wasn’t going to work because my baby was moving everywhere. I then told her to get another Bluetooth sticker because like give me a break there’s another one in the hospital. She went and got the supervisor and other nurses and the supervisor aggressively ripped me up onto my back completely pulling me from the other nurses on the other side. In that moment I was terrified to continue the epidural. Then there were notes put in my chart saying I was refusing the monitor that was not true at all. I was laying there wanting to just go to another hospital. My labor took 3 days. I was given so many fluids that I had severe swelling. I was telling them for 3 days after my delivery that it didn’t feel normal at all. They kept saying “remember we talked about this” as if I was being crazy. I could barely walk or roll my own body over. Then by the 3rd day my baby got sent to the icu and at the same time they threatened me with cps trying to say I was unfit. My baby was on the way to the icu by helicopter before I got discharged which was about 30 mins after she left. I got to the icu checked on my baby and immediately went to the er on the other side I had severe third spacing with fluids in my chest. I could of gotten heart failure because of this if it went more untreated. There’s more but this is the worst of it. Just please stay away from delivering your babies here 😢
I just wanna specially shout of to the nurse Eli , he always went above and beyond answered my questions for me during shift change he kinda forgot about me. But was always there. The one nurse was very rude asking why we had the call light on because my patient (I do healthcare ) was afraid to speak up . She really appreciated Eli and Emily for sure!
Zero stars... run to Beacon Memorial or somewhere not Corewell related. Went into ER 8pm to be told surgery next day. Moved to a room finally at 3am next day. Return to hospital for surgery time at 8am to be told not on the surgery schedule and they dont know when or if he would have surgery that day. So I complained... just going to dope him up all day instead of getting him the surgery needed to relieve pain. I was told that broken hip not considered an emergency even if you are in excuitating pain. Then was later gossiped about to the patient on how I was difficult after I had left. I'm not sorry for advocating for better care for my family. Finally surgery popped up giving us 30min to be there. Almost had patient sign for stuff when under the influence and was even told prior his POA needed to be with him to sign documents. Ever since Corewell took over things at Lakeland went from WORSE to even WORSE. This is just the surface infomation. VERY unorganized had to be told things multiple times by mulitple family members. Tried to discharge following day without a return to home plan. Terrible expierence. Lastly everyone should speak to a Lawyer to know their rights, Malpractice gets swept under the rug all to often.
From start to finish everyone at the hospital was welcoming, kind and professional. The doctors explained issue and diagnostics and did so with kind, calm demeanor. Nurses were wonderful too. Going to the ER is always scary but this experience was much better than so many others. The staff there make a big difference.
The medical team that took care of my daughter was amazing. There were a few that I will point out that were not so great. First the person checking in at the er. When someone comes in, in a panic maybe don’t ask them where would they like to go as if they work there. We expect you to make the best decision to place us based on experience and knowledge of your job. If I’m in the er … uh I want a room and probably pain medicine. She was no empathetic and just pointed from her seat where we should go as my daughter is screaming in pain. Just lazy. Even the nurse that messed up my daughters i.v. In her hand twice. Well maybe if you suggested the dominant hand at the beginning seeing how she was screaming at the top of her lungs and based on your knowledge and experience she would not have just said this had, which was not the dominant hand just to give you an answer because she was desperate for pain medicine. Y’all work there educate us and give us all options because this is not the field we specialize in it is you. The attention and education you give mothers that are breast feeding is at the top of the charts. Not sure why funding was cut for that. But get it fully funded and bring it back. We had a nurse come to our home. She really went out of her way and the time and work was very appreciated. And last the people or company you have cleaning this place. Did not come get my daughters trash dirty towels etc. no housekeeping service was given what so ever. It’s not like I thought to bring a broom and dust pan to the er. And there were 2 spiders we killed in that room. But really the labor and delivery section dirty. Y’all need to get that fix asap.
