Well, I don't understand all these bad reviews. I've been seeing Dr. Ortiz for quite a few years now and I have never had a problem of any kind. The office staff is always friendly and professional, I've never had any long waits and Dr. Ortiz is the best, just wish he could be my primary instead of just my pulmonologist.

First off I want to say I respect and admire Dr. Carrillo. I was referred to him from my primary physician because of suspicious nodes on my lungs. I saw him twice and then today was to see him with the most recent CT scan disk and report. Here’s a little background. Moved to the area a little over a year ago. Had a bank ( out of the area)and went to close it in June. I called accounting at the Clinic because the last co-pay I sent in wasn’t cashed. I was told I did not have a balance. I thought maybe I paid it twice as it had been a month since I sent the check in. Needless to say I got a call last week from billing saying the check was returned by the bank and now I owe an extra $30. The woman (office mgr/billing) I spoke with told me I owed the $30 on top of the $20 co-pay. She said they had had a “computer glitch” but they legally had 90 days to process it. I was angry and said it wasn’t my fault they had a “computer glitch”. Again I was told they legally had 90 days. I figured when I went in for my upcoming visit I’d write a check for the balance and the co-pay for the new visit. Now today: I had an appointment and went there with my checkbook to pay the now $50. I spoke to the staff person at the window that I had an issue with how their accounting department was run. She said she’d get me the manager (billing dept). After about 5 minutes the staff person comes out of the mgrs office with a smile as the manager says out loud “ I guess you’re all getting raises”. Ugh. What a conversation they must have had. Anyhow, I explained to the mgr about closing my old bank account (out of town bank) and had opened a new local one, and how I had called her and what her response had been. We had quite the conversation. Not a happy one. I told her I would pay the $50. She told me I could not write a check and I couldn’t see the doctor until I did. She claimed she told me that previously on the phone - she ABSOLUTELY DID NOT! I don’t carry cash. Again I explained I had a new local bank. She stood there with her arms crossed with a smirk on her face. Ugh again. She told me I could not see the doctor. I said very angrily that they were putting my health at risk because of it. Basically a shouting match. Then left. I’ve never had an issue with any business I’ve ever dealt with. I’ve never before had a check bounce. They just didn’t care. The front office which was never a pleasant experience to begin either should have some training on how to treat patients. No one goes there for the fun of it and staff should treat them with respect. I’m sad I won’t see Dr. Carrillo again but I can’t and won’t deal with his front office.

Called today to make an appointment they would not take me, because of no shows, they said I had 4 of them. I cannot believe it and I even offered to pay the no show, and they said they would not take me back. I have Parkinsons, and a spot on my lungs, good luck with these people they have no heart at all.

My experience with this delightful billing department occurred. I spent 3 hours trying to rectify this situation including 2 phone calls to their billing department. Extremely rude, extremely noncooperative, even had my 2nd insurance rep talk to them on a 3 way conversation. They filed my account to a collection agency, and still refused to send the Explanation of Benefits to my insurance company and you do not wAnt to hear their explanation. It’s pitiful, if they want payment then do what the secondary insurance requires. If you want paid, do what you have to do. I talked to Medicare today and I’ll have documentation, you were wrong, and you were disgracefully unjustified in our phone conversation.
