Doctor prescribes devices she isn't familiar with, and absolutely does not listen to any of your requests/presented information and proceeds to provide advice on un-related medical situations. While an APAP does "automatically adjust" the DME requested the lower bounded threshold to be increased. Her nurse called me back to state: "hey its automatic, don't worry about that." I spoke with another Sleep specialist to handle my machine and they instantly rectified the issue -- citing that you indeed should increase that lower bound. I would suggest staying away from this doctor who will not listen to you.
Had my first visit with Dr. Alba Shaw, she was very detailed, her explanations were concise And ask good questions. All things I look for in a good doctor. I’m looking forward to follow up for my test and see what she suggests. All the people that I came in contact with in her office were also very nice and helpful.
A+ service. This is a high-quality neurology practice. Dr. Kiran Shah has decades of experience and it’s very evident that he loves what he does. Very friendly and professional staff. Overall, an excellent experience.
I did not appreciate how they treated me as a patient. They were 45 minutes late for my appointment and were very dismissive. Zero explanation or acknowledgement regarding their tardiness so I'm guessing it's normal for their practice. The communication was not clear and the doctor seemed irritated to explain his own miscommunications. The office is dirty, old and tropical at 77°F.
If I could give half a star I would. It was truly that bad. I went to this clinic for the first time recently and it was an awful experience. I was referred by my ENT. The staff there, doctor Shah, and even the summer intern interactions were all bad. I would not recommend Dr. Shah bc she made it clear she didn't care what brought me there, or anything that occurred beyond the last 3 months, claiming it didn't matter. -That in a nut shell is why I believe she is a bad doctor. Doctor Interactions: I find saying: "only the last 3 months matter" offensive bc if you don't know what all I've done or where I've gone in search of help for my issue, and bc I'm coming to her for help, but she's overly dismissive (AT BEST), and doesn't see what I've done to make it easier for her to disseminate my 1.5 year timeline of 7 doctors history-THEN SHES NOT A VERY GOOD DOCTOR. The crux of our conversation went downhill fast bc she didn't read all the data I brought, though I begged her (it was only 2 pages), and it showed I have been using the CPAP since September 2024. And while I missed the last 6 weeks of CPAP bc of a sty issue on my eye that I was told to take meds and discontinue the CPAP till eye healed- all clearly didn't matter to her. When I tried 3 times to show her data that I had been using the machine for way longer than the last 3 months, and its history connection to why my ENT feels something else is up- it was like she gave up, stood up- as if to say she's done now with the appointment, and that I need to use my CPAP good-bye! There were some gaps in the months since September and I thought that was weird and I tried to explain it to her that I didn't know why they weren't showing. That's when I realized I also have a travel CPAP bc of my work. But she got me so distracted trying to bring her up to speed with my history that I didn't think to bring it up. I called her out calmly by saying I don't think you have the full story, I realize people might tell you they use it and don't but I really do and she shot back: what did I say- as if I was a child. I said calmly: "I heard you say you think I need to use my CPAP for at least 3 months, lose weight, and manage my anxiety? BUT since we know my CPAP is central and physically based, and I can't change my actual jaw and larynx and airway abnormality without surgery, I think my ENT believes there's a deeper brain connection, and..)- She cut me off again and said "No- that's only one of the things I said." She said based off what the other neurologist did via brain scan I am fine and was already a foot from the door. At this point I just felt defeated and that it was a total waste to come to this office. To be very clear: I realize a lot of doctors only have 20 minutes per patient. But that's why I really tried to make it easy and summarize why I was there in the first place. But her actions and verbiage were: Don't care. In by-passing my word doc history, it really only wasted time bc everything from what meds I'm on, to how much dosage, which doctor I saw, etc., was already written down. Her manner of asking me questions and cutting me off mid-sentence made me feel hella rushed and like she wasn't understanding me. I got frustrated 10 minutes in, bc every question asked was already answered on a typed piece of paper 2 feet from her face. But I kept my cool and said- "I’m sorry could we start over, I feel like we've gotten off on the wrong foot and I'd like the chance to better explain...?" But she said forcefully- no- not at all, and bull dozed over me with more questions already explained on paper again. I saw several degrees on the waiting room wall showing she is well educated, but has a very poor bedside manner. I'd even say she has a "ridiculously bad" bedside manner given all of the above. Staff interactions: Front desk doesn't listen to patients. Summer intern completed baseball style stretches in front of me during the exam room time when I was trying to explain why I was there. I remember thinking: Is this all really happening?
