Last month I would’ve given it 5 stars, but I went yesterday and had a horrible experience. For one I go monthly to the same doctor and have been for 10+ years, the didn’t have my visit on the logs and my doctor wasn’t even there. Eventually I got taken care of by another doctor. Then the pharmacy was ridiculous! Normally it takes 2 min to check in and 30 min to get your meds. Yesterday they stated a new program and it took 45min to check in and almost 4 hours to get my meds. Plus I drive 2 hours to get there. Please go back to the other way of doing things
This review is specifically for the agent who answered the phone in the community care office today on 15DEC2025. I called at 1:11 PM and I spent almost an entire hour waiting on hold. Like any reasonable person would do, I used the iPhone’s hold assist feature so I’m not wasting my time and so I can take care of other errands. However, once I got the notification on my phone that the wait was over, the agent ended the call before I could even answer! It took me 2 seconds to end the hold assist feature, and during that time, the agent hanged up on me.. All agents should be trained to wait at least 10 seconds before hanging up the phone call if they don’t hear anything. I’m not going to waste my entire afternoon waiting on hold for an inefficient/indifferent VA employee to answer the phone- I’m going to use the hold assist feature so I can get on with my day. ***For any other veterans who aren’t familiar with hold assist, the iPhone has a feature where you can get a notification once your phone call is no longer on hold and there’s another person on the other end of the line.
I want to give attention and praise to the in patient spinal cord injury medical team at the Michael E. DeBakey VA medical Center. My brother in law is a patient there and my husband and I visited him for the first time this week, as we are from out of town. The staff, and I mean everyone, are not only excellently skilled, but they are incredibly caring and sympathetic to the patient's needs while exhibiting the highest standards of patient care. They enter another person's story where a life altering incident has occurred and fear, uncertainty, and anxiety have taken over. They handle the lives they care for with compassion and instill hope which is badly needed. They do this with the grace of love and joy. My brother in law laughs everyday and truly values the connections he has with each and every member of his care team. And that is PRICELESS!! Not to mention the care and support that, again, each and every care team member extends to my sister in law. They understand that the hearts closest to each patient are scared and hurting as well during this uncertain time in their lives. The medical staff care team members in this department truly carry and extend the light of hope. Something so badly needed by their patients. Sending a BIG THANK YOU to you all!!
Thankfully, the Trump administration fixed the VA during his last presidency. I’m back to tell you that I appreciate you all asking visitors before they park their purpose of being here. It has really helped us with the parking situation.
This is the worst experience I’ve ever had in my life. Dr Green, head of orthopedic surgery performed a hip replacement on me and damaged the nerves in my leg !! Now I suffer 24 hour neuropathy pain and no control of my foot. I was rolled under wheel chair 2 days after my surgery and no incident report was filed. I’m left to suffer on a daily basis at the hands of the people. No one came to my aid, I asked repeatedly for the patient advocate to report the incident and she never came to my room. I immediately demanded to be discharged. Later I found out that my Drop Foot Syndrome wasn’t annotated in my records at all!! Since I can’t get compensation for my injuries and pain and suffering, I’m going to tell my story EVERYWHERE I can so that people will know what we already know…most VA’s are incompetent!
