Dr Nichols was great and I had no issue with him, but every other facet of the Emory sleep center operates so poorly that I can’t give a good review. Their phone system does not work so you will not be able to contact them once for follow ups. This meant I missed the 30 day window where it’s free to exchange a sleep mask and had to pay for a new mask. I filed a formal complaint about that with Emory and when I went in for a follow up a nurse told be “we know all about your complaints” then slammed the door and left (wild move but I kinda respect it). If you want to resupply your filters or other equipment, good luck! I placed my order 6 weeks ago and am told it should only be 2 more weeks. The only thing they’ve been efficient about is making sure bills get paid. Stay far away
I saw Dr. Kirkwood for my sleep study evaluation and he was the best! He was very knowledgeable, and patient when answering my questions. Thank you Dr. Kirkwood for your exceptional service! Also, shout out to Vagula, wow, you are amazing! Thanks again to this center, you guys rock!
The treatment providers and treatment received are great. However, the folks that do the supply ordering/reordering are not so good. It took multiple weeks after I placed my resupply order for the items to actually ship, and for the second resupply in a row they sent the incorrect size/type item despite making a special note last time they sent this incorrect item. I wish the resupply time could get on the level of the treatment team.
Getting CPAP supplies is a pain in the ass. When you call the number listed on your machine, you just get an answering service. There is no way to contact the provider directly. You leave a message and they never get back to you. The supplies you’re supposed to receive never show up and when you call to complain they just give you the answering service again. Several months now without CPAP supplies because they can’t get out of the way of their own bureaucracy. Total fail.
Surprise billing and disorganized office. I had an at-home sleep study that had a follow-up appointment scheduled, including text and email reminders the day before. When I arrived, I was told that it was not an actual appointment, just an internal one to deliver the test results, so that was 90 minutes of driving wasted. I received a CPAP machine and on the first supplies reorder asked what the cost would be, and was told to contact my insurance company for that information. Sure, because that always answers any question. Eight months later I received a bill for over $600 for that reorder, billed against the current year's insurance plan (2024), not the one in the year (2023) the reorder took place, accompanied by a fake date of service in the current year's plan! I reported that as fraud to my insurance company. Emory, after a month, sent me to a collection agency. If they waited eight months to bill for a service, then they can wait a few months to get the insurance to investigate their suspect practices. This has become indicative of the entire Emory Healthcare system, not just the sleep center. I will not use another Emory provider due to this kind of administrative incompetence that becomes fraud.
