Although took a month to get in for 1st appointment. All the staff were very nice from the receptionist, assistant and Doctor very happy with my experience in New Lenox office.
Never going back here. The doctor sees you for two seconds and seems to just want to move on to the next person. Not to mention the receptionists are just rude. This was my second appointment and at the first he gave me a prescription and told me how to take it about three times. This appt he told me I wasn’t supposed to take it how I was (the way HE told me to). If you are looking for a respiratory Dr. look somewhere else!
Here's a rundown of my experience with this place. Scheduled an appointment to look for sleep apnea. Took off of work to go to the appointment. Waited about 25 minutes for the doctor to come in, ask me two questions, sign an order for the study to be done, and leave. Could definitely have been done over video or phone call, and the doctor seemed like he just wanted to catch up or get his day over with. They didn't tell me the next steps until I asked. I got contacted by the hospital for the sleep study, an at-home study, took a couple weeks but I was able to take it and return it. They said it would be a week before I got my results. Two weeks passed and I called Midwest, they said "Oh, sorry they told you that, it's actually three weeks." Called them after three weeks and a few days since I still didn't hear back. They said, "Nothing showed up but the take-home tests can be unreliable, let's schedule an in-house one". Fine, so that took another couple weeks to get a call regarding scheduling that. Took that study, waited three weeks, no phone call. Waited until week 5 before I called them and they said nothing showed up. So when I asked why I was having problems then, they said "You'll have to talk to the doctor about that," and scheduled a phone conference (shouldn't they have done that originally?) NINE weeks from now! Bottom line is, they don't care about you or your results but they love that sweet insurance money. Absolutely horrible experience and I will be canceling that phone appointment.
I did not have a good experience with this practice. I came in with a respiratory issue that I'm still trying to diagnose and resolve. Over two months, I had multiple interactions with their physicians, nurses, and office administrators that were extremely poor. Below is the summary: - I received a diagnosis that my Northwestern Medicine PCP said didn't make any sense. - I had a follow-up CT and was asked to bring the images to the office by the nurse practitioner. When I tried to drop the CD off at the office, the front desk staff told me that they can't accept the CD because "they might lose it". - When I dropped off the radiology reports to their office, I didn't receive a follow-up from my pulmonologist for a week. - The results of my sleep apnea test were ready 2 days after the test was completed, but it took me 30 days and 5 phone calls to receive the results. - My pulmonologist was out of office for several weeks and didn't have any redundancy with the other partners in their practice. - One day their office phone systems were down. My call was automatically forwarded to their answering service, but I never received a response from the main office. I called back 3 times and waited 7 days to hear from them.. - This practice ultimately acknowledged that my issue was too complex and referred me to a larger and more capable health system like University of Chicago or Northwestern. This practice seems much better suited for managing known issues than for diagnosing new, complex issues. I was extremely disappointed in their limited sophistication and complete lack of attention to detail. They weren't proactive in working my diagnosis, dropped the ball at multiple points in my journey, and ultimately steered me to a more sophisticated care center. While I appreciate the ultimate honesty about their limitations, I also lost time in trying to diagnose and resolve my issue.
I have been a patient of Dr. McDonough's for about 4 years and he is AMAZING! Not only is he an excellent physician, he really takes the time to talk with you and answer any questions. I have read the reviews and I do agree that the front office staff could improve with the follow-up of test results without multiple phones calls. This honestly does not bother me too because they are a very busy practice. I have had appointments rescheduled, however, these are respiratory specialists and during times like these, I cannot imagine how crazy busy they are. I would never go anywhere else!
