PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! I've been trying to schedule my son's tonsillectomy since October. No one answers at the scheduling line, just the same automated message saying they're busy, to leave a voicemail, and they'll call back in 2-3 weeks!? That was almost 3 months ago. Message also says not to leave multiple voicemails, but if you don't hear back in the expected 2-3 weeks, what are we supposed to do? I talked to a front desk representative who suggested signing up for the portal and seeing if I can schedule and/or communicate through there. After the portal sign up prompts, it said I'd get login information in 24-48 hours. That was 2 weeks ago... don't even bother.

This is not a safe place for kids with allergies and we left to protect his health. Pharmacy, the nursing staff and food services all gave my kid things he's allergic to. And there's really no excuse, his allergies are on his chart and we verbalized them to everyone. We've been impressed with their outpatient services, but we will not be returning for impatient care. He left more sick than when we were admitted and these allergy exposures are an enormous setback in his health journey.

I recently brought my daughter to Children’s Mercy for an ultrasound and wanted to share some feedback on our experience. The ultrasound tech was professional and completed the exam appropriately, but she seemed very unenthusiastic and offered almost no interaction with my daughter. This stood out because our previous experiences at Children’s Mercy have always been so warm, child-focused, and engaging. My daughter is only two, but she has had multiple ultrasounds, and I had already prepared her for what to expect. Even so, I was surprised that the technologist didn’t talk her through the steps or try to make her more comfortable. While my daughter handled it well, I worry that a child who is new to medical procedures might become anxious without that extra interaction and reassurance. I truly appreciate the care Children’s Mercy provides, but I hope this feedback helps ensure all technologists maintain the same high level of child-friendly communication we’ve experienced in the past.

Feel like waiting 2+ hours for a single outpatient lab draw? Then you’ve come to the right place. I understand if there is a long line, but there were only four people in front of us for the lab. 30+ minutes per patient is laughable. If you’re running that far behind, some correspondence would be nice at least. And since we were there so long we needed to change our son. No changing tables for our newborn in the available bathrooms in a children’s hospital was some nice icing on the cake before we left.

If I could give zero stars I would this hospital is absolutely ridiculous. My kids have been seen twice Less than a week, different and more symptoms every time or something new is wrong and then when I try to get a document signed for me to leave work to take care of my children, I keep getting the runaround and the patient advocate line is never available they never answer. It never rings. It is impossible to get in touch with anybody who was the point of being a doctor or a nurse practitioner if you don’t do your job. Seems like an easy way to make money off of people in need. When literally majority of them just sit in the chair at a Computer Snacking on pretzels.
