North Carolina Eye, Ear, Nose & Throat - Chapel Hill

I am very disappointed with the poor customer service on returning and exchanging sunglasses here. They told me 15% restocking fees and when I came to return they said 25%.

Was a little apprehensive about my eye exam after having seen so many bad reviews, but my experience was positive. I arrived a bit late for my appointment, but they didn't have a problem with it. I was seen promptly. I saw Geeta Chowdhary and she seemed competent and professional. I was hesitant to have my eyes dilated due to needing to work afterward, she talked me into it explaining they use a low dose and it shouldn't last all day. Then found an issue that needs further investigation, so I'm glad she didn't blindly follow my request.

My prior ophthalmologist retired. He had just sold his practice to NC EENT. The first time I saw him they charged me a new patient visit even though I was seeing my former ophthalmologist. More concerning, though, after he retired, they set me up with a new opthalmologist. The day PRIOR to the visit, they said she won't see me because I wear contact lenses and they have to reschedule me with someone who does. I then left the practice and am searching for new eye care provider. I do NOT recommend this practice (I did have a wonderful former ophthalmologist)

Five stars from start to finish - the receptionist, nurse, and doctor were phenomenal. They managed to fit me in without having an appointment when I was a walk-in due to debilitating pain. The woman at the front desk was amazing - I wish I had caught her name - but she absolutely made it happen, and I really appreciated her. Sarah (Sara?) the nurse was very nice and helpful, making me feel heard and comforted. No exaggeration, before this appointment I was in the most pain I have been in within living memory - I couldn't sleep, laugh, smile, or eat. Dr. Yu was an incredibly competent and caring medical professional, and truly a godsend. She preformed a debridement on my ear and was as efficient as possible, saving me as much pain as she could, and inserted a wick so I could more effectively apply ear drops. I was truly panicked, and her matter-of-fact demeanor really helped in allaying my fears. She fixed my excruciating pain, and by the end of the day, my pain level was at a one. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Yu. My experience was perfect. Unparalled service and treatment. I truly was helped.

This office is so unprofessional! They do not answer the phone when you call - EVER!!! I went for my appointment with Dr. Chowdhary on 10/30/2025 and was told by staff, as well as the optometrist herself that she wasn't in network. Keep in mind, I have waited 4 months to have my eyes checked and only went with this office because they could see me in 4 months vs 6 months!!! So, I walk out after being told they aren't in network, only to get home, look up my in network optometrists and VOILA Dr. Chowdhary was in network! AND YET I STILL NEED NEW CONTACTS AND GLASSES!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have called the office and left messages so many times AND I NEVER RECEIVE A CALL BACK. This office should be closed! NC Eye and Ear was soooooo much better before they affiliated themselves with Duke. You could quickly get an appointment and the system was run like a well oiled drum! I am a medical professional myself and this kind of business is TOTALLY unacceptable.
