I recently had cataract surgery performed on me by Dr. Bull at RAMC. I am very pleased with the result as I am not wearing glasses for the first time in 60 years, going back to when I was in fifth grade. In fall of 2024 I went for an eye exam and new glasses were prescribed. However I ended up getting quintuple heart bypass surgery on Dec. 2, and thus put off ordering new glasses until spring. My vision in 2024 was off enough it was getting difficult for me to read road and street signs until I was right on top of them. My night vision was reaching the point I avoided driving after dark whenever I could. I had been told of developing cataracts several years earlier. After getting my new glasses in May, I didn’t notice any improvement in my vision. Over the summer it seemed to get worse as when grocery shopping, I couldn’t read labels until I got up close to them. When I went to the Reedsburg-LaCrosse Centralfootball game, I could follow the action but the players were so blurry I couldn’t read their numbers. Because of that, for the first time in 45 years I didn’t attend the Reedsburg-Baraboo game in person. I could see games much better watching them online, So after another exam in September, I was referred to Dr. Bull, who recommended cataract surgery. He also informed me he could correct my lifelong astigmatism. I scheduled it for late fall. The day after the first surgery on the first eye, I went to the Reedsburg-Pewaukee football game and was able to see the the players clearly without glasses. My vision improved even more after the second eye surgery was done. I went fishing in the Dells and drive home in the dark and my night vision was amazingly better than it had been for years. I was in and out of RAMC in less than four hours for each eye surgery. I appreciated being able to get the surgeries done so close to my home. One issue: I keep instinctually reaching for the glasses I no longer need when I get up in the morning.
From start to finish, it was a ideal experience for a ER visit. I called ahead and the help desk/triage was very helpful. Upon arrival, a nurse in the parking lot helped me on her own accord to get me where I needed to go even though she did not work ER. All the nurse staff was above and beyond kind and professional. The doctor was amazing and beyond helpful as well. We are new to the area and I am thankful we have this ER close by.
I can’t say enough wonderful things about the nurses and midwives at the birth center who supported us during the delivery of our daughter, Aubrie. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely embraced and cared for. Even before we stepped through the door, the atmosphere was already set with essential oils diffusing, creating a peaceful and welcoming environment. The nurses were absolutely extraordinary—truly a step above in every way. They were not only incredibly attentive and responsive, but they also took the time to truly listen to us. No question was too small, and no concern was dismissed. They anticipated our needs before we even voiced them, always making sure we were comfortable and well-informed throughout the entire process. Their warmth and compassion made an already intense experience feel manageable and even reassuring. Beth and Ame, our midwives, were equally incredible—knowledgeable, patient, and skilled. They guided us with confidence, offering various labor positions and techniques that helped us through each phase. Their calm demeanor and clear communication made a world of difference, and I always felt like I was in the best hands. What truly stood out was the nurses' personalized approach to care. They didn’t just follow a protocol; they really got to know us as individuals and made sure our birth plan was respected every step of the way. I especially felt their support when it came to my breastfeeding concerns. The lactation consultants were attentive and incredibly helpful, giving me practical guidance and reassurance that helped me feel more confident and empowered. Thanks to this exceptional team, our delivery experience was not only smooth but deeply meaningful. The care we received went beyond professional—it was heartfelt and genuine. We’re so grateful for the nurses and midwives at the birth center, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If you're looking for a birthing center where you’ll be supported, respected, and cared for as more than just another patient, I wholeheartedly recommend RAMC!
Second update: I just got another bill from Reedsburg Area Medical Centre and still have heard nothing back from customer care. Our total is now 1,004.00 for what was quoted as a 242.00 appointment. This is not including gas. Update to add: I called customer care as requested two days ago and they still haven’t gotten back to me. This hospital is a very disorganized mess. We booked my immigration health screening in advance and asked for the cost and were told 242.00 for my appointment, which we paid at registration before the appointment started. We were sent to a different part of the hospital for bloodwork and a urine test (which is required for the appointment I booked) and the nurse asked us about billing. We explained we already paid and I asked four different staff members to verify whether or not it was included, or what the cost may be if it isn’t and not one of them could give me an answer. We spoke to customer service, front desk in the lab, front desk at the front of the hospital, and the nurse that did my lab work. They sent us to a totally different hospital in Baraboo without warning us to do another blood test that Reedsburg couldn’t do, which Dr. Neissem assured me would be free. Two bills later, 260 from Reedsburg and 106 from Baraboo. Total of 608.00 for 242.00 appointment. I got my vaccine booster that I was told Dr. Neissem required and returned after he called me to verify everything was ready for pickup. I show up to my appointment to pick up paperwork (3:00, shortly before close at 4:00) and he tells me I had another vaccine he forgot about and in order to get my paperwork that day I would need to go get the vaccine. This cost us almost 200 dollars for his mistake. Grand total came to almost 800 dollars not accounting for 8+ hours of driving in gas. The only good thing I can say about this hospital is Dr. Neissem’s nurse is fantastic. She stayed late after work so we could still pick up my paperwork after close even though it was the doctor’s mistake, and not hers. She’s an amazing person.
I took my daughter in January 20th. The staff treated us like a transaction. Rushed us in and rushed us out. Didn't look my daughter over. Only tested for strep even though I asked for a covid test. Didn't check her abdomen even though I mentioned she's been complaining of stomach pain. This has happened the last couple times we have gone and I keep giving the walk in care another chance but after this point I won't again. It feels like they treat you like a number and don't look you over the first time so you keep having to come back so they can keep billing your insurance to cover the cost of the new building. I'm not sure what happened to the amazing staff that was here before but I'm disgusted by the staff there now. Highly recommend not going to this facility.
