This is the best medical department I have ever been to. I have had to see multiple specialists at the Neuroscience institute over the past year and I could not be happier with every single one of them. Dr. Palak Patel is amazing and spent a full hour with us to help us with my health concerns. Dr. Zacharatos did the same and explained my MRI results in great depth and detail to help me understand. I have never felt rushed and every time I go for an appointment, I feel so assured that I am in good hands. I almost look forward to my appointments just for the relief I feel in being taken care of by these doctors. They have each shown appropriate concern for the level of seriousness of my health conditions, yet they always reassure me of the positive aspects of my situation and help me feel confident in the future. I cannot recommend the Neuroscience Institute strongly enough and I'm so grateful for the attentive and professional care I have received there. I would give 10 stars if I could.

Do t get me wrong the staff in the hospital for Neuro was awesome. Problem was outpatient, I was scheduled with a doctor who had a ) GOD complex.. He continually talked about how bad my treatment was and how if he was my doctor things would have been better for me. I was so taken aback that I emailed the doctor and pretty much told him to shove it. I was admitted about 2 weeks ago with agonizing pain in lower back legs with new numbness in both feet up past ankles. Neurology came in spent 8 minutes if that with me. They never returned at all. The said to make appt with that same doctor. I requested to see them probably 10 times along with a neuro surgeon since a doctor a year ago was recommending surgery, but at that time still recovering from GBS and my body wasn’t ready. Though the pain never went away, I managed until now. Neuro never returned to see me. All of my other docs were referring for them to see me and nothing. It is sad when docs don’t care about patients pain and concerns. My treatment now will be delayed due to me getting appointments( my neurosurgeon moved to Arizona, so gotta start with new one. I will never refer anyone to outpatient care at JFK. These doctors need to explain in person not write a 3 sentence line in chart. Horrible horrible experience!!

I saw Dr. Kapoor after a seizure, hoping for care and support. While I understand it was his legal duty to report me to the MVC, the follow-up was deeply disappointing. He ignored my MRI and EEG results until I pushed, filled out my MVC forms without an examination, entered the wrong seizure date, and his office submitted paperwork late. Later, when the MVC required updated paperwork before restoring my license, he refused to complete it despite clear proof from the state. He never followed up with me directly, leaving me feeling dismissed and unsupported. What stood out most was his lack of professionalism. During both visits, he shook my hand immediately after putting on hand sanitizer without rubbing it in, leaving my hand soaking wet—something unhygienic and uncomfortable. It summed up his overall approach: rushed, impersonal, and careless. The one positive note is Michelle at the front desk, who was kind, compassionate, and made me feel heard. Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Kapoor was the opposite, and I cannot recommend him.

Spoke on the phone with Sherry and it was awful. I have made many appointments with different hospitals and specialist and have never had issues before until today. She left me a voicemail the day before and then when i return the message the next day she says she never called and that i can’t make an appointment beacuse my records were sent but She was sent all my documents 2 times and still says she never got it but then tells me the doctor He looked at everything and wants to refer me to general neurology but thats weird because like she said she never got any of my documents so how did she read my records. Very confusing and when asked she hung up on me and i called back but she never answered . This place is awful to deal with . Will definitely be looking for a different neurologist . Don’t waste your time here

My experience was great I came to see Yevgenia Shekhtman, MD, FAANS Neurosurgery. All was in time and I was really happy with care from doctor (straight to the point) and her nurse practitioner Isabel Leal, MSN, APRN, FNP-C. Wonderful nurse, very rare nowadays! Parking was hard, most of places were taken. So if you want to be more close to entrance go to parking with lifting gate it is absolutely free!
