They took good care of my grandson...ordered appropriate tests etc. A big negative... advice from the doctor was for us to go by ambulance to the Asheville hospital. I've since found out it is not covered by insurance because it wasn't an emergency.....to the tune of $3000.
A total pleasant experience. The MRI went very smoothly. The staff is top-notch, very caring and helpful. The facility was over-the -top clean and well staffed.
Mammogram was friendly quick and easy. The amount of boob squash and boob exposure was much less than I had anticipated which was a relief. You are positioned facing a wall and they only take 2 angles per boob. The technician also advised me that they do not have male technicians performing mammograms at Highlands cashiers hospital so if you are someone who worries about these things, I encourage you to come here for your check up!
I went to the hospital on a Friday evening after a friend recommended that I see a doctor for a bug bite reaction that had been slowing getting worse for 3 days. I had been to this location previously for lab work, same location, same front doors, same check in process. I am a FL resident with BCBS of NC insurance. When I checked in I asked to pay my $50 copay before seeing the doctor. I was told I would need to wait and pay when I checked out. I waited about 30 minutes to see the doctor. He prescribed antibiotics, gave me one to get started, and sent me home. When I went to check out I was told my copay would be $500! That this is an emergency room charge - not an urgent care, and that i would be charged $500. I was extremely upset because i would not have stayed if I have been told up front that the fee would be $500. That was 10 times the amount I thought it would be - and I was clear that I thought it would be $50 - just like the last time I was there. I would have driven to Franklin to go to an urgent care facility.
Great community hospital for our area. Dr. Wheeler, my primary, always takes her time listening to my concerns, reviewing my lab reports, and taking a sincere interest in my overall health. Recommended a barium test at the hospital that was done professionally and with great care. Would definitely recommend all services I have had at this health care provider.
