They billed my insurance, got their money and then sent me another bill. Apparently the bill gets split up and then miraculously one half of the billing department "never got" my insurance info. 5k to my insurance and 300 to me. Took almost 10 minutes with someone with a very heavy foreign accent to try to explain and they never properly explained how one department in the hospital doesn't have access to billing information. I ended up googling it and found out they just "sometimes split the bill and make the customer pay for outside contractors separately". So, two groups bill separately for the same procedure, but one group isn't located at the hospital, and doesn't have access to the medical records to retrieve insurance information? Fascinating! So, even though I gave my insurance card to the people at the hospital 3 separate times, one part of the billing department just... DOESN'T have access to that information? So HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO GIVE IT TO THEM? So, your standard procedure is to bill people's insurance and then send them another bill and, what? Do they seriously just hope they think it's the copay? Is the patient supposed to call the debt collector and give THEM my insurance? What was I actually SUPPOSED to do, if giving the hospital my insurance information 3 times on different occasions wasn't good enough? Also, when I asked at the hospital why I received a bill when my insurance was on file and they said "IUNNNO". But it's totally normal, they swear! It's just that the hospitals contracts radiologists and the bill is separate! It was an accident that they couldn't find the insurance information on record, they promise! This is totally normal procedure! They really tried to just say "well someone at the billing department screwed up, so it's not our fault." Ignoring the fact that the person who did it ALSO works for the same hospital and is meant to have access to all the same info. The left hand doesn't know what the right is doing, but let's ignore that they both take orders from the same source... By the way, when REAL professionals need outside assistance to get the job done, they bill the customer the full amount and then THEY pay the contractor themselves. Otherwise they make it crystal clear that there will be a separate bill. (No one told me in person, and the bills I received made no indication that ANY amount of money had been paid by my insurance at all) I asked a blue collar professional if that's how it should be done and he looked at me like I was asking if the sky is blue. "Oh, but it's different, it makes sense when we do it."

I went to the ER and was told to follow up with my DR then was lied to about my appointment date and nothing was done to fix it. The receptionist did not care I lived an hour away or about my pain or the fact is was in the ER. Avoid this place

I was born in Berlin, I gave birth to both my children at AVH and watched my daughter give birth to my grandson in the same room she was delivered in at AVH. I have received life saving care there as well as sat beside my family and loved ones while they received care. I have also been with family while they passed on to the next life. One would say I have some history at AVH. This review is written based on generations and decades of medical care and not one person’s bad day. Berlin is a very lucky town to have such an amazing asset. I would like to send a big shout out to the staff on the third floor who assisted me with my procedure today!! Thank you again Nurse Jenna and the operating room staff. You were all so kind, caring and respectful. It truly shows you care about your patients. I hope you all had a great day!

I was dismayed by the reviews, thinking it would be several hours of waiting with unfriendly staff and poor service, but I had a good experience, at least by NJ standards. Their “busy” schedule only caused me to leave 3 hours after I came, in NJ, this would take a minimum of 8 hours for my injury. The nurses, Lisa and another whose name slips me, were very friendly and helpful. Dr. Moore was friendly and attentive.
