Receptionist was unprofessional. Rude tone and made me feel like I was inconveniencing her for calling and not knowing their specific way of doing things.
I’ve seen Dr. Yap for years and she’s one of the rare doctors who truly listens. She focuses on how you feel, not just what’s in the textbook, and makes sure your concerns are actually resolved. I’ve always felt taken seriously and well cared for.
I saw Dr Kwon and my nurse was Harley - both were super kind, attentive, and professional. My appt actually started early! So I was in and out in a timely manner yet nothing felt rushed. They both took the time to get to know me, and they both seemed to genuinely care about my health and well being! I definitely recommend!!
I walked in on Valentines Day to get x-rays that had been sent to Maui Medical. It was at 4pm. They close at 5pm. The receiptionist staff of two are talking about unrelated work activities. I give my name and say what I'm here for. After literally 20 seconds the rude receiptionist says and I quote "it's not here, it's not here," they didn't send it. I replied that it's in the system, Wailuku has it. She said, "well it has to be faxed over." I replied, can you call them to figure it out given you are Maui Medical. Reply, "No". Another individual, I'm guessing Dr. or tech person gives me a piece of paper with a fax number and says, "have them fax it to us." This is classic large organization sabotaging itself in a lack of effiecency at customers expense. I can only assume the management of Maui Medical Pukalani branch is either hand tied to do anything about their sad staff or worse don't care because they themself risen up the ranks to a point of mediocrity of which they will sit as a cancer in the medical system causing more harm than good to the upcountry community. PS. I had to take off an hour early from my job to even make it there before they closed giving myself an hour; knowing I might have issues getting anything done near the end of the day with this silly provider.
Dr. Yap is extremely unprofessional and inappropriate. She did not listen to what was being said/asked and rather, screamed at me over the phone and did not even bother to see my child over video nor in person of course. Never have I experienced a pediatrician screaming at a patient nor their parent, it was shocking and uncalled for.
