I was recommended for a sleep study because I'm always tired. It seemed straightforward enough, and I asked when I would be finished in the morning. They said that I would sleep "until I woke up," which sounded civilized enough. At about 4:30 AM, I was awakened and told it was time to go. Later was told that I didn't have sleep apnea. (I told them I didn't have sleep apnea before I went in.) Nothing else. I'm still always tired. It was not a good use of my time, but the staff person on duty was very nice.
Had appointment via SC Internal Medicine for 7/25 @ 8:30 and instructions to show up 15 before. I arrive at 8:15 and the building security guard informs me that all the sleep staff have left for the day. Guard kindly walks me around looking for any staff, walks around to the side entrance and tries buzzer, no one. Extremely unprofessional and disappointing.
Be sure you are clear what you are going in for. I have had a CPAP for 10 years. Just went in for testing to see where my CPAP pressures should be. Stayed all night connected to all the wires and when they sent me home at this morning a 4am they said that was just for the testing to see if I have sleep apnea. They want me to come back another night for the testing with my mask. Seems like a scam. I am not going back. I had rather die in my sleep than see these people again!
Sleep studies are just weird. My technician Courtney was outstanding, took her time, explained things to me and was very accommodating of my special needs. Put me at ease and everything went very smoothly.
Facility is older, but the bedding was clean. Staff were and have been super nice. Would have rated higher, but when strips were removed, they pulled off a pic of skin in my neck area. And I was left with a very bad rash.
