My experience here was not great, especially when I got to the 6th floor. They are horrible and don't know anything. I called for my nurse and it took her damn near an hour to come see what I wanted. I was in ICU first and they took very good care of me. Some of those nurses need more training

We came in for a simple 35 minute surgery! We knew we had to have blood work done and labs came at 7:40am app is at 10am we know we’re are early it’s now 1pm and surgery hasn’t started absolutely horrible will never ever choose here again

Where do I begin? My aunt was recently admitted. I have not visited this hospital for many years, so when I first entered the hospital lobby, I could tell it has been neglected for a long time. Now that UAB is the parent company of St. Vincent's, renovations can’t come soon enough, especially parking. How in the world that facility has operated with no parking garage amazes me. Not only are the elderly visitors exposed to the weather, but the terrain is very difficult for them to walk to and from their cars. But, the primary reason for my one-star review is to share our experience with the nursing staff. What a disappointment! I always acknowledge nurses who exhibit a genuine caring disposition - not someone who comes in with a sour attitude, no smile and treats the patients like they are pieces of machinery. That's what my family encountered during this recent stay. We never want to go back to that "dungeon on the hill" ever again!

I was transferred by ambulance from Blount County to UAB St Vincent's East Sunday evening with a bad infection. I am a typical guy who never goes to the doctor or hospital unless it's life or death because of fear and just not liking going to the hospital, but from the minute they took me in every nurse and every patient care tech, doctor insurgeon were all top tier! Like that night they took me down for a CAT scan and the radiology text and the orderly that transferred me all made me feel very comfortable, the hospital bed was very comfortable even the food they served was the best although I wasn't allowed to eat until after my surgery lol. I was lucky to have several different nurses throughout my stay and patient care techs and again everyone that a phenomenal job, constantly giving me liquid antibiotics through my IV, bed baths and making sure I was comfortable. I'm a very large man about 540 lb and no one ever made me feel self-conscious about it, the area I had surgery on was from an abscess that I know is gross but I was never made to feel uncomfortable. My fear of hospitals has totally changed, I am 47 years old and never thought I would feel this way. Thanks again to each and every one of the staff members who took great care of me. The anesthesiologist, surgeon, doctor, infectious disease control doctor and nurses, my RNs and my patient care techs, even the lady who came and cleaned my room from an outsource agency in the cafeteria workers who made my food and brought it to me, radiology techs, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Not sure who is running this hospital but they are doing a phenomenal job because trust me I would tell you if I had a complaint and out of all of the different staff members and people I came across I did not have one bad experience. I forgot to mention the recovery nurse it was also very awesome. This was not a slow time for the hospital either, they had done I believe I was told 11 surgery Sunday and when I had my surgery done Monday evening they were seven or eight other patients in recovery which is to say they were around the clock busy and still provided the best care. Thank you UAB St Vincent's East!
