Drove 3 hours to get my son seen and I would do it again anytime. They were quick and got straight to work. We were out within 3 hours and a diagnosis and medication thank you so much to the night staff everyone was amazing
CHOA needs to step up and meet the standard of care provided by elite hospital systems like Boston Children’s and UCSF. These institutions prioritize collaboration, accurate communication, and respect for complex cases. CHOA should be operating at that level for every patient, especially those with rare diseases. I’m giving 2 stars only because some nurses and staff were truly outstanding. A charge nurse, the nurse assisting him, and Dr. P went above and beyond. They listened, advocated, and ultimately found the real cause of our son’s severe cough—something that had previously been dismissed. But overall, CHOA needs major improvement in communication, coordination, and bedside manner, especially for rare disease patients. We repeatedly experienced: • Poor communication between CHOA physicians • Symptoms being dismissed as “behavioral” • Doctors saying they “treat the labs, not the child,” which Boston Children’s and UCSF immediately corrected CHOA physicians on. • Inaccurate and concerning charting (including listing conditions our son doesn’t have) • Parents labeled as “demanding” simply for advocating appropriately • One nurse misheard and relayed our words incorrectly, creating a situation that could have escalated into serious consequences for our family. Errors like what this nurse did can put parents and children at risk and should never happen in a hospital setting. Despite an entire hour long phone care conference held weeks before admission, the plan was lost again. Our child’s symptoms and history were repeatedly reframed or minimized, even when nurses witnessed clear neurological and cognitive changes. We appreciate the few exceptional staff members who truly cared, but CHOA as a system needs reform—better rare-disease knowledge, better communication, and far better respect for patient symptoms.
I love everything about the staff and doctors. Everybody was so friendly and loving when came to my baby and I. I’m thankful for everything they did to get my baby feeling better. 10/10 I would definitely recommend💕 the first picture is from st. Mary’s that wasn’t helping at all. and the second picture is him sitting up and eating after they were given him the correct treatments at the children hospital. Thank you guys for everything.🫶🏾💕
My 8 year old autistic son had an MRI done last week at Scottish Rites Hospital. The radiology team was amazing. My son’s nurse, Jessie, was an absolute pleasure. She made my son feel so at ease every step of the way. I can’t thank her enough. Everyone from the information center, check in, to radiology was so helpful and friendly. Great experience.
I love Children hospital my daughter broke her arm at the park I took her to urgent care first cause I was unsure if it was broke and they recommended Children’s. We got in the same day, they casted her up and we were out there before the sun went down. The hospital can get busy which add to a little wait time but that’s all hospital. Children’s did really good by my daughter. So soft, engaging with her letting her know what happened and what they were doing, overloaded her with stickers, and let her pick her cast color. They then sent her on her way with her favorite color Gatorade. Thanks for all you do. The nurses and doctors that work there were all nice and kid friendly.
