Mark was very professional. He spent plenty of time explaining the process and what I could expect. Also, went over when I could expect to hear from the DME company.
The technologist was extremely patient while helping me adjust to the nosepiece. The bed was comfortable and the surroundings were conducive to sleep. The nosepiece that I tried won’t work because it made the top of my nose feel bruised but we will keep trying to find one that works.
My father recently had his sleep study at the AdventHealth Waterman Sleep Center. He previously had his sleep care handled up north and when he moved to Florida recently, we really struggled with finding a doctor who could see us in a reasonable timeframe and I feel like we hit the jackpot when we found Dr. Drahos and AdventHealth. Dr. Drahos saw my father almost the next day from us calling for an appointment! The AdventHealth Waterman scheduling team fit him in quickly to the schedule. The facility was very clean and more up to date than the sleep lab he was seen at previously. His sleep tech, Karie, was friendly and professional and explained everything he needed to know in detail. He received his new cpap machine today and we couldn’t be more thankful for the team’s effort to help my father in a timely manner. Thank you, AdventHealth!
As someone who has undergone four sleep studies in my lifetime, I know what a well-run study should look like. I rarely write negative reviews, but my recent experience at Advent Health Waterman in Tavares was so poor that I feel obligated to warn others. Here are the issues I encountered during my stay: • The room was extremely small, barely large enough to fit a twin-sized bed. • The bed itself resembled a hide-a-bed with no box spring—just a thin 3-inch mattress that offered no support. • The mattress was so undersized that even a fitted sheet couldn’t stay in place, which made sleeping even more difficult. • When I arrived, there was no top sheet on the bed. • When I politely mentioned this to the technician, she became defensive and said, “It isn’t my job to make the beds.” • The room had no attached bathroom, so I was forced to use a public restroom down the hall, which lacked basic amenities such as washcloths, hand towels, or even bar soap. • Walking down a public hallway in pajamas in the middle of the night was disruptive, uncomfortable, and made it difficult to get back to sleep. Due to the poor sleeping conditions—especially the inadequate bed—I was unable to sleep at all, which completely undermines the purpose of a sleep study. The results are, in my opinion, not valid or useful. Considering that my insurance was billed over $6,000 for this study, I expected at least a basic level of comfort—a full or queen-sized bed in a clean, private room with a bathroom. My advice: if your doctor recommends this facility for a sleep study, go elsewhere. This was a frustrating and disappointing experience, and a complete waste of time and money.
