The phone skills for this practice are very poor. The receptionist is rude and whomever I spoke with today hung up on me after providing a short response of “sure” when asked if another doctor could contact me because mine was out of the office for the next two weeks. Now, I realize that these practices are very busy but even their on-hold messaging request being patient and states they are giving each caller the proper attention.
I went to my primary care physician for my annual check up and he ordered a sleep study since I am getting up on average every 1.5 hours. I did a home sleep study and the results were provided to my doctor. I wrote him and asked what I should do next. He wrote back and said I should make an appointment with a doctor at this medical practice and my doctor provided the referral paperwork. I called this office and talked to a admin person to schedule an appointment. She informed me that the earliest appointment would be in 5 months and said they would not even schedule an appointment until I filled out their new patient paperwork. She then sent me the paperwork which I immediately filled out and sent back. She requested that I also send the sleep study results and the visit note that ordered the sleep study. I sent the sleep study results, the office visit summary from the hospital following my sleep study, the office visit summary from my last visit with my primary physician and the referral to this business. I then received a series of emails from this admin indicating that I had not sent her what was needed to schedule an appointment. She claimed I had not sent the sleep test results and had not sent her "the office visit note signed by the doctor, with all of the details explaining why you need a sleep doctor". I resent her the sleep study results and the office visit summary from my last visit with my primary and the referral I received from my primary. The response I received was that I still had not sent enough to schedule an appointment. I responded with the complete history of what I have done to try to get care: "I went to my primary care physician for my annual check up and he ordered the sleep study. I did the home sleep study and the results were provided to him. I wrote him and asked what I should do next. He wrote back and said I should make an appointment with this medical practice and provided the referral paperwork that I sent this admin. She still would not schedule an appointment. I told her via a return email that I sent what I have. Her response was: "If you would like to use your "After Visit Summary" that every patient receives after their appointment that is unsigned by the doctor and gives our doctors no details about your condition; I will scan it in your chart. Just letting you know that this is not sufficient to be seen as ever having seen a doctor for a sleep issue. Clearly the details about my condition are 8 hours worth of sleep study data from my home sleep study. I provided the results of this study to this admin. If they wanted the actual study data they could have gotten such data. I then told this admin to forget it. I will seek care elsewhere. The doctors in this practice may be fine but clearly the admin should find another form of employment.
Called to set up an appointment, but no answer. Received a call back several hours later at the end of the day to be told they don’t offer the test I requested which is fine, but the admin was very rude and condescending. Seemed very annoyed about having to call back and overall had a bad attitude. Glad they do not offer what I needed as after that phone call I’d be anxious going into the office.
I see Dr Rome normally but I’m having such issues and they keep giving me the nurse practitioner or whoever she is. I’m up 7/8 times a night with severe pain in my legs are stretch and my lungs fill up my legs lock up then I have to stand up to get the paint out then I have to go to the bathroom they keep on saying that I need to have another sleep study and someone supposed to call me back they never do. I’ve called the office seven times my blood pressure is going up. I’m having such issues this. This is just unbelievable. Everyone of my doctors have asked me to call the pulmonologist.
I have been seeing Dr. Spencer Whealon and I could not be more pleased. He is a young Dr. but do not judge a book by its cover. He is extremely knowledgeable and honest and straightforward. He took his time and answered all my questions before a procedure he was going to perform. After the procedure he went above and beyond to get me the results in a very short period of time. He explained everything in a very kind and understanding manner and one in which that made sense. I could not recommend him more and will continue to be a patient of his.
